How To Stay Active When on Vacation

It doesn’t have to mean sweating it out in the gym, get outdoors and make the most of the weather.

 Go for walks

One of the simplest forms of exercise is one of the most effective. The great thing about walking while on vacation is that you’re not limited to strolling by yourself around the  neighbourhood and rushing back in time for work. Go exploring! Discover new walking tracks, go on a hike in a national park or kick off your shoes and walk along the beach. 

Start cleaning
Grab a mop and bucket and work out the old fashioned way. Scrubbing, sweeping, vacuuming, running up and down stairs. You’ll be surprised just how easy it is to work up a sweat while cleaning house. Get the family together, divvy up the chores and get cleaning.

Take a dip

Get active in the water this summer. Whether you’re at the beach or in the pool, there are plenty of high intensity cardio exercises to create an effective water workout. Try high-knee jogging on the spot, squat jumps or flutter kicks from the pool edge.

Cool off with the kids

Sprinklers are fun! Wear your bathing suits, buy a pack of water balloons and discover your inner child.

Get in the garden
Gardening is a great mind & body workout. Digging around in the dirt is not only an excellent form of functional exercise, it cultivates a healthy mind as you immerse yourself in nature.

Visit the playground
If the gym is out of reach, there is a lot of fun you can have at your nearest park or playground. You just need to get a little creative! Monkey bars? Try chin up bars. Park bench? Hello step-ups.
